Friends and Francais

This weekend I was able to go see Kelly and some of my other friends that I don't get to see very often. It was great to see my "unofficial sister" again.

It was very much a "Fall" day, so I brought out some of the colors I love for this season...burgundy and blue.

I've decided to go back to studying French. I did for three years, got busy, and ended up going too many months without this beautiful language in my life. I love this book...it has French stories with the English printed on the opposite page. I was very pleased when I first picked it up, and I could read most of the first paragraph! Ah...the simple feats make me happy. Wish me luck for the rest of the book.

Vintage Hipster

This last week has been rain and late nights and one place to be after another....FINALLY I got a spare moment to take an outfit photo. Today, it was chilly, but I still want to hang on to summer as long as I can! So I put this floral LC scarf with my sweater to liven it up. And today, I just had fun with the pictures. :)

Match the bag and the shoes...

I've been loving this caramel  leather recently. I'm going to try to sneak it into some more outfits.

Blue Collar

I love mixing up opposites....like a loose shirt and skinny jeans. This shirt is an old men's shirt. Its a great wardrobe staple because its comfortable yet versitle. I've worn it to the beach, with skirts, and yes, with skinny jeans.

I went to get my nails done over the weeked. I'm in love with this shade of red. It's called "Friar, Friar, Pants on Fire" by OPI. It doesn't show up well in the picture, but it has just a slightly orange hue.

Another example of the "Neutral Bag" changing with a scarf.

LBD Goes Casual

There are few things in life more important than a Little Black Dress. Even though this is generally meant to be of a cocktail variety, I dare say that a casual LBD is an even greater fashion nessecity. I saw this in the store, looking rather limp on the hanger, and decided to see how it fit. I put it on and immediatly thought of 15 different outfits I could do. There's so much possiblilty with a simple black dress that the outfit can pretty much put itself together. And for $10? I bought it faster than you could say "Kelly get the camera".

I love neutral, basic bags because just adding a scarf to the strap makes a great statement. Plus if you have a few of these laying around (guilty!), it's super easy to change out the color depending on what that day's outfit looks like.

A Good Friend and A Good Pair of Heels

Today's post is a special one, because I had my friend, Kelly take the pictures. She's moving about an hour's drive away this weekend, which will take some getting used to (right now, I can get to her house in five minutes).

So we decided to get together, check out the new thrift store, and take some outfit shots before she goes. Here's what we got:

Kelly also helped me get another outfit photographed- I'll be posting that one shortly. Until next time....

Sunnies and Stop Signs

I love wearing scarves (if you haven't figured it out already). I have a few that are perfect for summer...light material, light colors. This one I got from Payless Shoes when they had a Bogo sale. I was only buying one pair of shoes, so I put this scarf on the counter and ended up paying a grand total of $2.5 for it. (Score!).

While I'm talking about scarves, let me share with you my secret for keeping all of them organized, visible, and ready-to-wear. To Ikea!

  KOMPLEMENT Multi-use hanger white Width: 17 " Height: 33 ½ " Width: 43 cm Height: 85 cm
Isn't it beautiful? This hanger is really great for keeping all the scarves in sight. Instead of having them all in a drawer where some get pushed to the back and never worn, this keeps everything on display. And for $8? Pick one up the next time you pass by your local Swedish Mall of Dreams. ;)

Bohemian Babe

I kept the make up really simple and natural for this one...just a little cream-colored eye shadow, a swipe of mascara, light brown liner only on the bottom, and a little blush from temples to cheek bones. And a pale pink lipstick.

The scarf was inspired by a picture from the new movie "Water For Elephants". Reese Witherspoon was featured in the May issue of Vogue, and this is one of the stills they included from the film.

I love the splash of color it gives her outfit.
