Dressing Up, and Down

This last month has been super busy...I've traveled, started school, started seeing an organization about putting my designs in a runway show... It's been crazy. And on top of that, I took up a new adventure.

A friend of mine, almost like a sister to me, who I hadn't seen in years suddenly came out of the woodwork. We started talking again, and she introduced me to her new husband and baby. (Adorable!) And then she introduced me to her horses. She spent an afternoon teaching me how to ride, and invited me to come over whenever I had a few free hours for us to ride together.

Horseback riding has quickly become my favorite sport. To ride, you have to always make sure the horses know who's in charge. If they figure out that they are bigger than you, and could go where ever they please, they will. You have to be confident that you know what you're doing, even if you aren't really sure and you feel like you're about to fall off. This is a great lesson for the world outside the saddle too.

Here's my new friend, Diamond. I also rode Forrest (didn't get a picture of him, unfortunately), who is a race horse and much taller. I did some trotting and some barrel racing exercises on him, and that was quite the adrenaline rush!

Yes, yes, I know. This is a fashion blog. So enough of old jeans and muddy boots, here's a new dress.

I went shopping at Kohls this past weekend, and I had $50 in Kohls cash. I bought things that were already on sale, so when it all got added up, I payed $11 for what should have been $200. I got two shirts, a cardigan, and two dresses for $11. Can we just take a minute to celebrate?

Resort Wear

I'm exploring the shops and beaches near the Great Lakes area for this weak, so here's a vacation look. I was with my parents shopping in a cute little town where shops are right on the docks. You can watch the boats comes in and buy jewelry in teeny tiny shops the size of a closet. We were walking down the street, all going in different directions, when my dad came up to me and said that I should check out one of the stores, because they had "cute things" and the "prices weren't that bad".

Which to me, sounded like "Pick out a dress. I'm buying."

Yes, I am wearing a swimsuit under my dress. Yay vacation!

This was an easy hairstyle I did by braiding a section of hair and using it as a head band. It's held with Bobbi pins on the other side of my head. I wish I had a big red flower to clip over the pins, but it still turned out pretty nicely. I used Paul Mitchell Sea Salt Spray to give it a beach-y look. This also helps the braid stay in.

I bought the jewelry in a small shop in Leeland. Several tourist shops try to charge horrible prices, but if you look in the right spot, you can find the stuff that wont break the bank. The two bracelets and the necklace were about $15 all together.

I'm leaving Traverse City now, but I've got a surprise for tomorrow's post. Something a little... different. See you here. :)

I love white for summer. It's cool, its light, and it looks really nice next to a tan.

Ok, maybe I need to go get a tan.... I'll start working on that. ;)

Schooled in Fashion

Posted by Picasa

Ah! The beautiful city of Savannah! My first college visit- to Savannah College of Arts and Design. I'm completely in love with the city and the college. Its a small, historic town filled with life and art. And the background isn't too shabby, huh? Lets hope for more posts from this fantastic place. (Fingers crossed!)

I was on the bus that took the visiting prospectives to the main building, and the student guides were asking each of us which major we wanted to go for. He comes to me, looks at me from head to toe and says: "Fashion, right?".
